Lunch time! It’s 12:03, I’m assuming, in the good old EST of the USofA. Thanks to Substack for always sending this out three minutes later than our scheduled time of noon. We have such a beautiful partnership.
The beauty of Covid (among its many virtues) is that it gave us Lunch YouTube time. All this means is that sometimes it’s lunch and you’re working from home / a cafe and you need something to look at while you’re eating slop bowl. Slop bowl can be homemade or store-bought, it doesn’t matter, but what we’re really after here is the perfect harmony of checking out for 30 minutes, digging into a bowl in repeated, static motions to eat bites of similar size and quantity and ingredients, and having your eyes trained on User-Generated Content. Nothing tops this.
Here’s my favorite type of video to watch during lunch slop bowl time:
And here’s Ritam’s:
So what’s everyone else’s favorite YouTube video to zone out to while eating lunch? Just a little Me Time for those precious 30 minutes? Anyone?
Oh wait. That’s right. Uhhh…yeah. You guessed it. We polled our damn network!

Footnote’s Footnote
Finally, I get to speak! Me, the humble footnote, crushed beneath the boot of the two authors of this Substack each week. I have to represent what they say, no matter how low effort it may be. This is my bailiwick in this world. But this week, they co-authored the post, leaving me free to represent my own interests!
And my interests are thus:
They’re misusing the term “footnote,” right? Like, when you think of a footnote, do you think of someone else that didn’t write the text in question commenting on the text?1 That’s just a comment, right?? Like, maybe they should call it “Ritam’s thoughts,” “Nabeel’s Corner,” something like this. Hm. But of course this would render me extinct and obsolete, so I guess I don’t actually want that outcome.
That’s all!
No, you think of this. A real ass footnote!!!!
Absolutely perverted how many people you texted this question to….
boys i’m so late to this one but I can’t stop thinking about this comment someone left on the Amber Frost / Joshua Citarella interview
> Great podcast for those of us who fell down this niche political internet rabbit hole a decade ago and want to take one last look, tie up the loose ends, and gtfo. These feel like exit interviews for me in a very good way.
that shit stuck with me for weeks, man.
