Hey—remember a couple weeks ago, when I said that podcasts and Substacks have been, by and large, net negatives for society?
Let me take that back for a moment. Because maybe two negatives…equal…a positive…and all that negative energy that I was harboring just needed to be channeled into a new creative outlet.
Look, I get it: two guys starting a podcast in this day and age is nothing new. It’s so fucking exhausting, I know. No one wants to hear this shit. The world has had quite enough of men broadcasting their thoughts that no one asked for…
But I had a profound realization as we finished up the Zoom recording of our first episode: there’s nothing like this in the world out there. Some of the funny shit my friends and I talk about would be podcast gold, and yet it’s not even recorded for the world to hear. Like honestly the bits and riffs we get into are seriously high concept, as if we wrote them and planned them all out, but a lot of times it’s just me and Ritam and my funny-ass friends going straight off the dome. There was magic in that Zoom room, an ephemeral spark of creativity that I needed to harness. I could tell we were doing something right, and we just knew it was something the world needed to hear.
Plus, if you’re feeling like, “Oh, God, these idiots think the stuff they say is so profound, and now they’re trying to make more of it, but they don’t even know how flooded the podcast market is with bullshit like theirs, and the actual technical quality will be horrible, cheaply produced and without tact or skill or respect for people’s time,” just know that I used to work at a desk next to people who produced podcasts, and Ritam is a technical whiz (software engineer). It’s going to be next level.
So, again: give us a chance. We’re going to keep everything free-flowing, no real high concepts just yet. It’s going to be us, unfiltered, raw, naked, juiced on our own thoughts and ideas. Just listen to the first episode. I took all the things I learned from years of listening to Bill Simmons, months of research and LinkedIn Learning and carefully listening to everyone and everything around me in the real world, and we made it our own.
